MEMBER UPDATE #5 - 9/4/2020

KEEP CALM / STAY SAFE / SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY
Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
Preventative measures at the RMYC Broken Bay

To our valued members,

We would firstly like to wish a very Happy Easter to all our members and their families during the current COVID-19 crisis impacting the world. The Australian Government is asking us all to promote a safe and stay at home Easter to help save lives by only leaving home for what we 'really need' which consists of exercise, work, medical and care. The Prime Minister and Premier of NSW have made many announcements to the people of Australia and NSW.

We as a Club have been in discussions with ClubsNSW, Marina Industry Association (MIA), Boating Industry Association (BIA), NSW Health, NSW Transport, National Parks and Wildlife, NSW Police and many other industry and governing authorities. Chris Lee, our Commodore has also been in discussions with a network of other Clubs along the East Coast of NSW. The COVID-19 situation continues to impact everyone in various ways.

We are seeing personal, business, RMYC members and their families, the community and the Club staff all being touched in one way or another. We continue to adapt to make the best of this situation daily and ensure that we all work together and support each other. The Club and our members need to help reduce the spreading of COVID-19, and in particular over the coming Easter period. This is to help in the next few months in the hope to lift restrictions gradually and resume some sort of a social/work lifestyle more rapidly. We ask you to be understanding and make appropriate decisions during these times.

We are hearing that members are already talking about the return of Club activities and how the Club’s social and boating activity have become a very large part of their lives. We will continue to keep you updated with relevant and trustworthy information and we appreciate your continued patience during this time.

The following updates have been implemented at RMYC since Monday 23rd March 2020 when the clubhouse was closed but marina remains open:

MARINA
The RMYC marina will remain open as an essential service for members and guests to utilise their boats and associated services. We ask you to be mindful of social gatherings during this time that may be against the social distancing/stay home policy. We ask you to be ambassadors promoting and respecting the strong importance around these regulations at the Marina, on Club Moorings and on your boat representing the Club (ie when flying the Club Burgee). Please see the below Graph - Guidelines for Responsible Boating in NSW.

FUEL
RMYC will continue to sell fuel to marina members and the surrounding boating community. Please be mindful we are classed as an essential transport service and facility on Pittwater for residents who rely heavily on our service for water travel to and from their homes and for emergency services when required.

TENDER SERVICE
The tender service will continue to operate for members with a maximum 2 people from the same family or a single person per trip. This service is for members checking their vessels and exercising as per the regulations.

PHONES
Please understand we are running to a reduced administrative staffing roster during these times and phone assistance will be limited. Ensure you keep up to date on social media and on the Clubs website at www.royalmotor.com.au where we have set up a dedicated page online at RMYC/Coronavirus (COVID-19) along with regular member emails.

MEMBERSHIP
We are asking members to renew their membership on line. If you are having troubles doing so, please call Kathryn Ross our membership
co-ordinator who is working Monday 9am – 5pm and Tuesday 9am – 12.30pm. Please don’t hesitate to call Kathryn on 99975511 or email kathryn@royalmotor.com.au

SOCIAL DISTANCING STILL APPLIES
Please be aware that Police, RMS have increased patrols, both on water and on marinas in Pittwater to ensure the rules distributed by authorities are adhered too. RMYC will continue to follow the general precautions against the spread of COVID-19 for all our indoor and outdoor spaces surrounding the marina and towards our staff as follows: as a general rule, people should be able to keep 1.5 metres apart, hand sanitisers are conveniently located in the marina office and bathrooms, we encourage members and their guests to use these as required. During this period, the WHO (World Health Organisation) has recommended that people:

• regularly wash your hands with warm water and soap, use the antiseptic sanitisers provided.
• avoid touching your eyes and nose wherever possible
• maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle
• Avoid shaking hands and close physical contact (hugging/kissing on greeting)
• Please cover your nose/mouth when sneezing or coughing

We wish to ensure to our members that decisions are made with the best interest of our members, staff and community in mind.

Thank you for your continued support.

When will coronavirus stop?

There's no definitive answer. But the success or failure of Australia's coronavirus fight relies to a remarkable degree on just one thing. And that thing is whether individual Australians now follow official advice — and just stay home. Coronavirus will continue to spread virtually unchecked unless at least eight in 10 Australians stay home as much as possible.

MEMBER UPDATE #4 - 31/3/2020

KEEP CALM / STAY SAFE / SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY
Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
Preventative measures at the RMYC Broken Bay

To our valued members,

Since our last update, the Prime Minister has announced many changes including border shut down, social indoor and now outdoor gathering restrictions. The Clubhouse closure since Monday 23rd March 2020 has remained the same with a couple of additional requirements regarding the pool and social distancing which will be explained below.

The marina remains open with stringent Social Distancing requirements. Please take note of these for everybody’s safety which is covered strongly in the below graphic 'Social Distancing when Boating'. The tender service is still operating and will now ONLY allow 2 people on the boat along with 1 staff member.

As we all work through the Covid-19 situation in our professional and personal lives, we must remain vigilant, strong and compliant. We appreciate your patience in this situation and ask for all members to remain loyal and understanding as this situation changes rapidly.

The Club is doing its best to minimise cost by limiting staff hours in all areas. These have been dramatically reduced by all casual staff being stood down, permanent staff agreeing to a large decrease in hours and wages with some redeployment of duties to cover work previously done by contractors.

We are continuing our engagement with our staff via our Employment Hero system and helping all staff with the latest government updates and assistance in these times, along with counselling if required.

Non-essential appliances have been placed in storage or turned off and all stock run down and even returned. This includes kegs of beer for the beer drinkers, so we have fresh stock when returning to business which we hope is in the not too distant future!

Our onsite licencees, being Newport Marine Services, Newport Electrical, Andrew Moore Marine and Ship Shape Services are all continuing to work during these times. The Club advises to please speak to the licencee’s regarding their services and operations.

Management and the Board meet regularly via Zoom, emails and phone to ensure constant relevant information is being communicated to members and staff.

POOL
The Prime Minister announced further measures around outdoor areas which has included the closure of the RMYC pool at ALL times.

MEMBERSHIP
The Club mailed out Boat Owner membership renewals prior to the shut down on the 23rd March 2020, which you may have received. If you would like to renew now, please head online to do so.

If you are having trouble renewing online, Kathryn Ross our membership co-ordinator is working Monday 9am - 5pm and Tuesday 9am -12.30pm. Please don't hesitate to call Kathryn on 9997 5511 or email kathryn@royalmotor.com.au

Renewals for Social Membership will be sent out shortly once we see a light at the end of the tunnel. If you are a social member and wonder why you haven’t received your renewal, this is why. If you would like to renew now, please head online to do so. This goes for all members.

We will continue to update our members weekly with information via email. If not already, please follow our social media especially our Facebook page. The 'Let's Sparkle' wellness hub has been designed to bring our community, staff and director's together online. To bring a lighter outlook during these crazy and uncertain times our community is facing, we have opened our Facebook and Instagram channels to our RMYC family. We want to promote positive, informative and fun-loving interactive posts. We hope you will join us!

MEMBER UPDATE #1 - 14/3/2020

KEEP CALM / STAY SAFE / SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY
Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
Preventative measures at the RMYC Broken Bay

Dear valued members,

With the continuing global pandemic, the Royal Motor Yacht Club takes your welfare and that of fellow members, guests, community and staff very seriously.

In response to this issue an increased Cleaning and Sanitisation Program has been implemented at the Club along with the installation of further hand sanitiser stations to the ones currently installed at various locations in and around the Club. The additional hand sanitisers are conveniently located at all high transit areas of the Club and we encourage members and their guests to use these as required.

All of the Club's staff have been briefed and additional measures have been implemented, encompassing all marina, kitchen, bar, office, reception and seating areas to ensure staff also comply with the strictest of hygiene standards.

We take pride and continue to provide a safe and enjoyable place to relax and unwind at our beautiful location. Everyone's health and safety remains our priority. The Club is operating as normal with Club Management continuing to assess the situation and information by members, experts and authorities.

The recommendation from the WHO is that masks are not necessary at this time and are only helpful in preventing people who have coronavirus disease from spreading it to others.

International Travellers
If you plan to visit the Club and you, or any member of your family or friends that you have been in close contact with, have travelled overseas and have returned to Australia in the past 14 days that you notify the Club before your visit.

Lastly, the WHO advises if you are experiencing fever, cough and difficulty breathing to seek an assessment from a medical practitioner. For Members and guests staying at the Club, if you experience these symptoms during your stay, please notify the Club immediately; our nearest hospital is Northern Beaches. For further information, please refer to the WHO Website CLICK HERE.
