Day 1, Friday 26th of July

A scenic drive to lunch at Wollombi Tavern was all the rage.

Perfect sunny weather to enjoy burgers, beers and vino set the weekend’s theme.

No Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice as it was then off to the Mercure to check in and enjoy afternoon drinks by the pool.

5pm Brokenwood Wine Tasting, what a sensational venue, the sommeliers played a game matching up the group and guessing partners…..mostly without success. First stop on our wine purchasing journey.

A fabulous dinner at Brokenwood’s, The Wood Restaurant with the exquisite Chefs the ‘Feed Me’ Shared Banquet. Many saying “best meal ever".

Day 2, Saturday 27th of July

Tasting Tour By Coach

Pokolbin Estate with Hannah, our amazing, animated host.
Small Mouth Vodka Distillery, with a fascinating selection of gins, vodkas and liqueurs all with glitter inside.
Twine Restaurant for a hearty meal.
Sobel Wines tour and tasting, where we found out we can’t call port, “port” anymore, just “tawny”.
Drayton’s Family Wines, where most concluded that maybe we did one winery too many 😊

Pre dinner drinks at the Mercure Lounge before boarding the shuttle bus for dinner at Harrigans for a great pub meal with live music, extra points for those who stayed and marched back along the cold, dark road at 11pm 😊

After dinner drinks at the bar for our exclusive use.

Day 3 Sunday 28th of July

Ballooning for the intrepid Sarah, Darren and Gordon, joined by the rest of us for a Bubbly Breakfast Petersen’s Cuvee Restaurant where Mexican Wagyu Benedict was nominated the favourite.

Lunch at Hunters Quarters, voted as the No 1 restaurant in the Hunter Valley and it’s easy to see why, we enjoyed a sumptuous 3 course meal prepared by hatted chef Brian Duncan accompanied with the best local wines.

Back to the Mercure for more vino by the pool, and a hotly contested game of draughts led by Tom Muir, before adjourning to the lounge and fireplace for pizza and wings.

Day 4 Sunday 29th of July

After a fantastic weekend with a great bunch of people some of us stopped at Lifeboat Café for a lunch of fish and chips before heading home.

Thank You for those who came along, made new friends and enjoyed the experience together.

And a huge Thank You To Jaz Rowntree who worked seamlessly to make this weekend to such a big success !!
